The pancreas is a gland which is located in the back of abdomen, lying almost on the spine. Pancreas mainly produces insulin which is the hormone that controls the blood sugar and also produces many enzymes that are needed for digestion of food. The formation of malignant cancer cell in the pancreas is pancreatic cancer. It is also called as exocrine cancer. Pancreatic cancer is the fourth most common cause of cancer related death in united state. This type of cancer is most common in men. It is slightly more common in African Americans and people of Jewish community and people who have diabetes. The average age of occurrence of this type of cancer is 65 years. In advanced stage of this disease cure is not possible. The actual cause of this cancer is unknown, however cigarette smoking play a important role in developing this cancer. The symptoms of pancreatic cancer are abdominal pain, weight los, nausea, vomiting, anemia, back pain and jaundice. The diagnosis of the pancreatic cancer can be done by taking a CT scan and Ultrasound examination in the abdominal region followed by fine needle aspiration and endoscopy. The treatments of pancreatic cancer are surgery, chemotherapy and radiation treatment.

The liver is the largest gland of the body and very important organ that has many function. It is in the upper part of the right-hand side of the body lying almost in spine. Liver cancer is also called as Hepatoma. The liver is the common site for metastasis from other cancers. Hepatoma has to be distinguished from other cancer that spread to liver. Primary liver cancer is the cancer that forms in the tissue of the liver. Secondary liver cancer is the cancer that spreads to the liver from the other part of the body. It is the one of the most common cancer in the world. It is more frequent in men and Oriental-Americans. The average age of the patient to be diagnosed by liver cancer is 60 years. Unfortunately, most patients are diagnosed in the advanced stage of the liver cancer when cure is not possible. The main causes of liver cancer are viruses like Hepatitis B and C, Alcohol, Aflatoxin (a toxin produced by fungus that grows in peanuts, corn), thorotrast (a material used for radiology studies few decades ago), PVC exposure, iron overload and arsenic poisoning. The symptoms of liver cancer are abdominal pain, weight loss, nausea, vomiting, jaundice, and anemia. For diagnosis apart from regular CT scan, Ultrasound examination, fine needle aspiration trochar biopsy may also be done. For treatment apart from usual chemotherapy, surgery, radiotherapy liver transplant may also be done in some cases.

Brain is the part of the central nervous system that includes all the higher nervous centers; it is enclosed within the skull and continuous with spinal cord. The growth of abnormal cells in the tissues of the brain is called as brain tumor. Brain tumor can be either benign (not a cancer) or malignant (cancer). Primary brain tumor refers to the cancer that originates in brain tissue. Some other cancers have tendency to metastasize and spread to the brain, and they are referred to as metastatic brain tumors. The average age of diagnosis of brain tumor is 57 and about 90% occur in adults. The cause of brain tumor is unknown. The signs and symptoms associated with brain tumor are headache, nausea, vomiting, seizures, altered mental status, altered speech, visual problems, and paralysis. Diagnosis can be done by a CT scan or a MRI of the brain; this will give a greater accuracy result. After the diagnosis treatment should be stated promptly. If the primary brain tumor is confirmed, the tumor has to be removed by surgery and analyzed by a pathologist. In situations like where tumors cannot be removed completely treatment like radiation therapy or chemotherapy has to be followed. Some patients are also treated with steroids to reduce the swelling of the brain and anti seizure medicines to prevent seizures.
